Fight breaks out in London over Erdoğan visit

Supporters and opponents of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were separated by police after a fight broke out in the midst of his visit to London, opposition newspaper Cumhuriyet said.

Footage shot by Euronews shows a small group of men holding a Turkish flag being attacked by demonstrators holding anti-Erdoğan placards.

From the design of the placards, it seems likely that the protesters were members of a protest called by Kurdish groups in London rather than another protest outside the British prime ministerial residence in Downing Street that was called by rights groups.

The footage then showed scuffles between police and the anti-Erdoğan demonstrators leading to one protester being detained in a police van. According to Euronews there were at least three arrests made in total that day.
